Disadvantages of Freelancing

Disadvantages of Freelancing

Well, we’ve talked about the advantages. It’s time to talk about the disadvantages of freelancing. Honestly, I don’t know if these are disadvantages or not. Rather, these are the characteristic features of freelancing that you need to remember.

1. For some people, it can be quite difficult to work alone. But there is a solution – find at least one more freelance colleague in the city and work in the same room. And the most fun is working for married couples, where both spouses are freelancers. I know a couple of such families.;)

2. No one will pay you money just for sitting in an office, drinking coffee, nd chatting with colleagues. ;)If you work, then you are doing something. Yes, freelancing is not for lazy people

3. Everything depends only on you. You are the boss, the subordinate, the most valuable employee, the secretary, the cleaner, the accountant, etc. You need to either hire someone to help or do all these things yourself.

4. If you want to improve your skills, no one will pay for your training, no onand e will send you to refresher courses. Training is now your responsibility.

5. The family does not always understand that if you are at home, it does not mean that you have nothing. This happens especially often at the beginning. Then the family members will gradually get used to your work, especially when you start getting paid for it.:)

6. You will encounter different people. Some clients will be serious people who are pleasant to work with. Other clients will also be serious, but not very organized, and therefore, you will have to “run after” them for a long time to get paid (if you do not work on 100% prepayment). And some clients may even turn out to be scammers. As I already said, I will dwell on the issue of fraud separately.

7. For many, the most difficult thing is the unpredictability of freelancing. It is impossible to predict how much you will earn. No one will pay you a monthly salary. Even if a client liked working with you, it is not a fact that they will use your services in the future. Therefore, you must always be prepared for both an excess of orders and periods of downtime. I mean moral and material readiness. Money must be put aside constantly.

8. As I already said, no one will pay a freelancer for sick leave and vacation. You are responsible for yourself.

That’s all I can think of about the disadvantages of freelancing. What would you add?
