John D. Rockefeller's Rules for Freelancers

John D. Rockefeller’s Rules for Freelancers

I recently read John Rockefeller’s rules on how to save and increase your capital, and I thought that these rules are perfect for freelancers. After all, our income depends only on our efforts. That’s why it is so important for us to learn how to wisely manage the money we earn. So, here are the rules themselves. I like some more than others. But they give good food for thought (and a kick for action):

1. Work less for someone else. The more you work for someone else, the worse you live. Work comes from the word “slave”!

2. Save money. Look for where you can buy goods cheaper and in bulk. Plan your shopping list and buy only what is on the list.

3. If you have little money, you need to do business. If you have no money at all, you need to do business urgently! Right now!

4. The path to great wealth lies only through passive income! Income that comes to you regardless of your efforts. Create a source of passive income and live for your pleasure!
5. Think about how to earn at least $50,000 per month. More is possible. Less is not possible! This figure was recommended by Rockefeller for a reason: the fact is that the richest people in our world spend no more than $50,000 per month.
6. Money comes to you through other people. Communicate! Uncommunicative people rarely become rich.

7. A poor environment almost always pulls you into poverty. Even very rich people will always have relatives, friends, and other petitioners who, if you do not fight them off professionally, will quickly deprive you of money, goals, and your dreams. If you are still a poor person, then most likely, in your environment, they simply do not like, do not respect, and some even hate the rich. You should always communicate with Winners and Optimists. That’s right, with a capital letter: Winners and Optimists!

8. Poverty comes from shirking responsibility, n’t making excuses for why you can’t start moving toward your goal right now.

9. Study the biographies and thoughts of the richest people in the world.

10. Dreams are the most important thing in your life! Professionally transform dreams into business programs and implement them for the full result! Each professionally developed program should contain the entire calculation to the full desired result. This is the only way dreams come true!

11. Help people selflessly, from the bottom of your heart! But only those whom you want to help yourself. Give 10% of your profits to charity.

12. Create business systems and enjoy your hard-earned money.

Rockefeller’s rules offer timeless wisdom for freelancers seeking financial stability and growth. They remind us that wealth comes from taking ownership of our work, being disciplined with spending, seeking passive income, and surrounding ourselves with ambitious, like-minded people. By setting bold income goals, staying connected, learning from the successful, and aligning dreams with actionable plans, we can build not just financial security but lasting fulfillment. The essence lies in taking responsibility, giving back generously, and creating systems that allow both prosperity and freedom.
